Old Updates

December 28th, 2006

Clothes... clothes... clothes... Oooh, a coupon!

Hadouken Dude's latest flash film is now up on the site, "

"Legend of Zelda: My Immortal"

Trust me, you definitely definitely definitely want to watch this one. Hadouken took a very different approach with this movie, and created something which is not intended to be a comedy. Hadouken wanted to create something touching, provoking and very emotional and he did it with such success. This is serious! This is touching! This is a "Must-Watch!"

December 24th, 2006

If Hallowe'en is like Christmas for the crazy demon-loving people (And yes, I know some, so this is in no way some discriminate insult...)because of all the free candy they can hoard, what does that make Christmas for them?

Rank page got split up. There is now a regular rank page for my work and a Guest Rank page for various guest work. All guest work is subject to my own personal review. No one but me decides if it goes on the site. Posting it on the forums, or IMing me about it does not guarantee it will go on the site. ... Okie, enough ranting for now...

Line Template got a minor fix.

Okay, this piece of information is for IE users. Since IE works badly for me (at best), I had been working on the site to look it's absolute best on Firefox. Unfortunately, I was unaware there were a few problems for IE users in terms of my layout. Thanks to some assistance, I managed to clear up those issues (border color and scrollbar problems, mainly). Everything should be looking fine, regardless if you use IE or Firefox.

December 18th, 2006

It's interesting that by typing "k" instead of "ok" during an IM, you can double your
efficiency in replying to someone.

Battlestar Galactica page has been revised to include a couple more collars, and fixes to the rank descriptions. Thanks to Kevin for bringing up this problem.

December 13th, 2006

First there was like, 1 thing. Then it became 2 things, followed by 3, 4, 5, ...

Enterprise Mirror Universe ranks were slightly updated and fixed. I noticed some problems with the basic designs, and made a couple appropriate changes.

Kuro-RPG forums are now using a new custom rankset.

December 10th, 2006

It's really a kid's toy... I just like to keep it a secret.

Changed a couple links, and played with the front page a little more. I wanted to see how it would look. Special thanks to forum member Invalid for the idea. :)

The first phase of the "Special Edition" set is now up on the site: DS9. 10 complete department colors are now ready and available for download.

November 26th, 2006

Same content, different outfit... But I swear, I had no idea it was going to be semi-transparent! Honest!

Links page has been split up into smaller sections, including: Premium, Guest, Forum, SIMM, Misc., Bravo Fleet and Alpha Fleet. Some new links have been added while some dead links have been removed.

November 23th, 2006

Short and sweet, but I did bake cookies!

Dress Style #3 is finished and up on the website now. Feel free to look it up under the Ranks page.

On another note, I noticed that the main page now has over 40,000 hits. Congratulations to the many people who checked out my main page instead of just skipping to the Ranks page. ^_^

November 19th, 2006

"The Infamous 17-Day-Later Update"... I just wish I knew what was so infamous about it!

Some time later and some work done on the site, including the following stuff:

- Alternate Style Rankset, circa 2485 is now up on the site. Scroll towards the bottom of the page to find the Alternate Style ranksets. Stefan put in a request for this set and asked it be posted on the site.
- Sailor Moon ranksets are now available on the website. I can now safe with considerable certainty that Kuro-RPG is not an "Sci-fi" only website, as we have something that has absolutely nothing to do with military or sci-fi ranks! I am rather quite proud of how they turned out as this project was a TON of work. Research was brutal, never mind trying to create a special image for every single rank made. I have not had such a difficult project to work on in such a long time, but the first half of the results are online and available for download. The second half (The 120x size) should be available sometime down the road.
- Four more donations to Kuro-RPG, coming from loyal members (In chronological order): Fedhog, Stephen Clark, Emily Hamilton, and Artemis Xavier Farr. I think we are getting closer to our forum upgrade!
- Contact information for Kuro-chan has been updated. Please see the Information Page for details.
- Information Page has been re-worked to account for the critical team members that help make Kuro-RPG a success. New entries include Mike Mendez and Fedhog.

I would also like to take a chance to briefly promote forum member Kevin's project on Star Trek Expanded Universe Wiki, a fanon project. Check out the rank project especially, for he has worked like hell to make this work. It stunned the hell out of me when I realized I truly have no life as I have made so many rank images... O.o ...

November 2nd, 2006

I made a boo-boo...

I forgot to update the Links page when I did my last update, so that is up, along with a cleanup of working links. I think I removed about 4 or 5 and put up another 3 since then.

October 26th, 2006

I know I know... I have not wrote anything recent... so shoot me...

There have been a lot of fun updates on the site. Mostly oddball things, but any and all oddball things amounts for fun, true?

- Information and Links pages have both received considerable updates. However, the Information page is not finished and should have some more information added soon. As for the Links page, well... It's NEVER done! Heh.
- Lilredhead of Enterprise Flashed now has a section on Kuro-RPG containing his work with E:F. We have added 4 episodes and 2 specials, all of them worth watching.
- Hadouken_Dude is up with his latest flash project: Four Swords Misadvantures #3. This was absolutely hilarious and exciting to watch when I saw it, so I dare you, the fans and browsers of Kuro-RPG to check it out in the Guest Flash section. Once again, the site got special mention in the credits! (Does happy little victory dance in some random corner where everyone can hear me, but no one can see...)
- We had forum troubles yesterday, but those have been cleaned up, and everything is working again.

- Also, if you have a chance to, please check out USS Pharaoh. This is a long-term project which looks VERY interesting. An impressive project for Trek fans.

October 2nd, 2006

The Update page got an update!

With new colors, new siggies and new opportunities for me to complain about the world and how much work ranksets can be at times... Well, here I am and here it is!
- ENT Rankset page has been fixed. It no longer opens up a new page for rankset viewing and the one "Admiral" page was fixed too.
- A new Romulan rankset can also be found on the site. The pips were re-designed to suit the needs of an approved client... Just don't ask about the one extra rank. It was not my idea...

September 24th, 2006

We have Battlestar Galactica Ranks!

No really! I seriously mean it! Kuro-RPG DOES have BSG ranks. Click right here if you don't believe me. Or you could click here, here, or even here if you still do not... I am not kidding at all!

Actually, a lot should be on this post, given how there was a considerable number of updates since the last time I posted. To start with, the Rankset contest is over and we have winners (But no losers, since there were not enough people to enter for there to be a loser... therefore, everyone is a winner, just like life)! ... The winners of the Advanced Hall competition already have their entires up on the site. I am waiting on some content from the Beginners Hall before I can post their stuff.
- Battlestar Galactica ranks are up. I am absolutely serious when I say they are up.
- Hanaukyo Maid Tai ranks are up now. Beware though, as this is not your average Klingon rankset. To cross your fingers and prepare for the worst, click here.

Also, we are still looking at trying to do a security update for the forum. This project has not been forgotten, but just not been quite as important lately. If you wish to see this site's forum survive and be open to as many members as we can somehow register, feel free to contribute to this quaint cause. The demonstration of your apprecation for the site is always a welcome one.

Under Construction, but I really honestly did make more progress... sorta!

Just a couple things to mention:

- Hadouken_dude's latest Flash movie is on the site: Four Swords Misadventures #1 Remake! It's like the first movie, only better!
- A Rankset competition has been introduced to the forum. To enter and vote, you need to be a registered member of Kuro-RPG

July 30th, 2006

It has been two weeks since the last update... That must mean I am actually updating...? Gah! What am I doing?! What am I doing?! I am upd-- ... oh wait... I am SUPPOSED to be updating... Okie okie, self-panic attack is over. I can get back to actually discussing WHAT kind of update this is:

- Movie Era ranks got a considerable boost with over 1,000 new ranks. There is now a second section called the "Movie Era Sleeves" which focuses on other part of the Movie Era uniform. I know there are still a few things missing, like some of the enlisted sleeves and the service pips, but that will be taken care of soon enough.
- DS9 Era, Duty Style #2, Dress Style #1 and #2, Alternate Style #1 and the Line Template all received a special service today. As of today, they all have Ambassador ranks. Unlike the Future Era and Alternate Style 2 sets, however, these are single-rank sections, and should be handled accordingly. I do not plan to expand these ranks as it was hard enough to get the Ambassador pip to look good.
- The update page now includes a random selection of banners linking to some premium and established sites showing the best in artists and trek-lovers combined.
- TNG rankset has been updated to properly work on the site and has been expanded to include the full run of enlisted, warrant and provisional ranks. I still only plan to have 3 department colors, however. The ranksets which still need a run-through are ENT, TOS, TMP, and Future Era.

And just to scare me that little bit more... I did another rank count. There are currently 17,199 available ranks on the site.

Under Construction, but getting closer to done!

Four Donations Today! You guys must love me! ^_^ Our Wonderful donators today are (In order of when I received them)

- Heidi Hutchinson
- Tom Farr
- Shawn Terry
- Lee Skevington

You guys are wonderful! Many thanks to you, and of course our donators of the past who have helped in keeping this established website healthy.

Special Guest work has been put up on the site. Look under Kevin's Custom Rankset for insight on what creation he designed and I assembled.

Movie Era Rankset has been updated and include 2 more non-canon color schemes. Feel free to browse through them.

Under Construction, but getting closer to done!

Hmm... So someone actually had the underdeveloped nuts to hack into the forums again and delete my own account. Fortunately, I fixed the problem in 20 minutes, but it still leaves me wondering just who would waste such time on such a pointless endeavour. Dumb children these days...

The Alternate Style page had some problems for a while. Those have been fixed. If there are any missing rank images, feel free to let me know.

Hadouken_dude's latest flash is now online and available on the site. Sorry it is late though, due to my internet problems...

July 13th, 2006

I'm ... Still... Under Construction... Sorry!

Okay, you children with the extremely undersized dicks need to realize there are more worthwhile things to do in life than hack a forum. First off, this does not affect me in the slightest. This forum has been down before and it may even go down again, and it is completely irrelevant. We'll come back strong and anew again, with lots of posting to do.

One piece of good news. I should have a solid connection back in the next week or so, thus I can get back to updating the site again! ( ^ - ^ )

Thanks for your patience, people. Let's get hurrying along to making this the best rank site around.

July 3rd, 2006

I'm ... Still... Under Construction!

Chaos and mayhem ensued for such a considerable amount of time... it leaves me to wonder just what the heck really happened.

First off, there was the hard drive failure, where I was unable to write anything to the hard drive which had all the Kuro-RPG content on it. Granted, the smaller hard drive was doing fine, but it was full because it had my operating system and a few other necessities. With some assistance from two brave donators, I was able to afford a replacement and I finished the data transfer a couple days ago, leaving me with the opportunity to start working on the site again. As promised to those who helped, however, I am updating the Donation/Donators page first, giving both Lee Skevington and Tom Farr credit for helping me out. Many thanks to you guys!

The problems did not end there, however. I am having considerable trouble connecting to the net... the DSL connection and service was fine for a couple years, but about a month ago, I started randomly losing my connection up to the point where the only time I can get online is around 2-7am... Does someone want to explain to me why I should pay full price for a ridiculous window of service?! I have already been in touch with the provider and I was told that someone would be looking into the lines. That was 10 days ago. I need to get a hold of them again...

Sometime down the road, once my net connection is running at full strength, I plan to do a couple changes to the email service at Kuro-RPG. I plan to create one general account which the entire forum team can access. Essentially, for any form of requests, questions, etc., anyone on my admin team will be able to access the email and speak on behalf of Kuro-RPG. In the meanwhile, if you still plan to email me at kuro@kuro-rpg.net, there is an attached code you need to enter or else the email will be deleted. The code is 12345. Enter that, leave a space then enter in your email title.

The chaos is not over, but I'm making progress.

May 17th, 2006

I'm Under Construction!

The pages which don't have updates in the "Ranks" section have been linked back to the old pages, so you should still be able to access them (For some reason it likes to open up the new pages in the exisiting frames browser, so click back to it to see the ranks).

April 25th, 2006

I'm Under Construction!

He's famous... He's big... He doesn't have a working website at the moment... He's talented... He's very popular at Newgrounds and other flash portals and now he has a reserved guest spot at Kuro-RPG. He's:

The "Guest Flash" button now works and will re-direct you to the page with all his well-established work. Feel free to browse through and enjoy the shows!

April 19th, 2006

I'm Under Construction!

Unfortunately, I have been sick the last couple days, so I have not been as dedicated with the site restoration as I wanted to be. Nonetheless, the Guest work and Earthforce sets are back online, as well as the Misc. pages.

I was asked a question by resident member Kevin on if the ranks are gone from the site. The answer is no. All the ranks and pages are still on the site, but the pages need to be re-organized and reconnected to the new links... etc., etc.

April 15th, 2006

I'm Under Construction!

I have 5 ranksets restored: DS9 Duty #1 & #2, Dress #1 & #2, and Alternate Style #1. These sets (to the best of my knowledge) should be complete, however if an error is found, please don't hesitate to report it.

I was hoping to get more sets ready, but that is what the next day is for. (Headache, distractions, etc.) I did get a total rank count, however... The current number for ones on the site is 15,601...

April 14th, 2006

I'm Under Construction!

After discovering a possible reason for why my pages would not work in a frame setting, I am going to give that another try. In addition, I'll be updating several aspects of the site, filling in some incomplete ranksets, making new graphics, etc. Phase 1 was already completed on the forum with a few new graphics. Now, onto Phase 2... The evil site itself!

In the meantime, don't be surprised if pretty much everything on the site is broken, including all the ranksets, the new guest flash films, etc. Give me the weekend to get as much done up as possible.

One piece of good news. Dress Style #1 and #2 are finished. They have yet to be placed on the site, however, and the current pages for viewing them need to be updated.

April 12, 2006

Just so that it does not look like I didn't pay the bill for the website, I will try to post on here. To summarize, something unusual has been going on today, as the domain keeps shutting down then re-appearing again. It seems to be totally random and has nothing to do with me. With any luck, this will be resolved sometime today.

There is only one tiny update in the MACO ranks, whereas an additional rank has been added. As for other projects, they are still underway.

The forum has been subject to a few more changes, however. For regular users, they would have noticed we suddenly lost our hotlinking to several images the original forum specialist provided for us. So, I took a page out of my atristic license, and created several new "Buttons" to replace the missing images.

April 3rd, 2006

Big changes on the Information Page, so feel free to check that out at your first opportunity. Also, I plan to do a writeup about Kuro-RPG, since the domain name will be re-registered next week and I want to look back at what has happened over the last year, the good and bad. Stay tuned.

One other thing: New avatar.

March 27th, 2006

Mmm... Coding. Kinda tastes like chicken in an odd sort of way. This update is a result of work scattered over the last couple weeks. I spent more time catching up on custom projects rather than working on the site itself.

- Large Klingon pips are now up, thanks to K'Hare's (Bravo Fleet) approval.
- Alternate Style Mirror Universe Template is now up. Thanks to PFC Chris (Trek to the Troops) approval.
- Starship rank template has a few new images. Feel free to explore.
- Touched up the Links pages again. Added a couple here and there.

March 11th, 2006

Eight and a half hours and several missed messages later (From people who bug and bug and bug and bug)... and the result: 2040 new ranks today! ... However, given the large number of images that were uploaded, combined with a few errors from the .ftp program I was using, an image here and there may have not been added on. For forum regulars, if you find the evil "X of Doom", let me know so I can double-check the appropriate sections.

- DS9 Duty #1 got the final color added on: Tan.
- DS9 Duty #2 has been added to the site today, adding an alternate to the "streak" effect in style #1

And to quote the person who insisted I put this up, because he was the reason why over 2,000 images went on the site:

"Do not ever let ffjosh@msn.com request anything from you, for you'll end up doing thousands of images... so..."

March 7th, 2006

A messed day... Not only did I miss some stuff on the site, I even forgot to update the "Update" page... MY BAD! ... Please don't hurt me...

- Links page got cleaned up, removing as many bad links as I possibly could. In addition, a few new links have been added.

March 5th, 2006

I can't think of a better quote than the one that is currently listed just below the semi-non-fancy rank bar, so I'll stick with what is there... Even though the quote is getting rather old...

There are a couple updates today, one relating to the forum and one relating to the website (And I imagine for Kuro-RPG regulars why you would be linked to the index page and not to the ranks page is so that you can help raise the counter located at the very bottom of this page, but also to view these wonderfully bad writeups the combined power of my blabber mouth and my non-nimble fingers loooove to create).

- Forums are now using a new rankset.
- A special "Guest" section has been added to the main Ranks page. In addition, Shawn Terry's "Black Ops." set is now included.

March 2nd, 2006

I was told I wrote all my pevious dates in 2006 as 2005. That has now been fixed. Thanks, Jane (As in former Kuro-RPG admin Jane).

February 20th, 2006

Despite continuous harassment from different people today (Yes, more than one person was involved), I managed to pull off one small update. Eventually I just had to shut off MSN for the day, because enough was enough.

- Bajoran ranks are now listed on the website. I figure they are going to get as much fixing as possible. If I try to fix the "white dot" problem anymore, it will end up not looking any different than a Major pip...

February 19th, 2006

Ah, the joys and pains of another update. I think this one is more solid than the last one, however, as there are some actual rank images going up, and yes... lo and behold, they are NEW ONES!!! RAARRR!!!

- Updates for TOS and TMP ranks. There are new sleeve designs. TMP Shoulder ranks will remain unchanged, as I am still fairly satisfied with those results.
- Bajoran ranksets have not seen much coverage on the forums yet, so I will wait a little longer before posting them online.

February 7th, 2006

I know it has been some time since the last time I was annoying on this page, but it is hard to say what kind of changes have happened at Kuro-RPG. Most of it feels the same, while at the same time most of it feels different somehow.

- DS9 Duty has been completely remade to cover a full range of ranks for 17 different department colors (Including updates in the Provisional Ranks section). I suggest you do not ask for any more department colors, since this project has come to the point where any kind of update is now long and tedious because of how much work has to go into every single section. The remaining ranksets have yet to be fully updated. Stay tuned for those changes.
- Bajoran ranksets are up on the forums for review before they become available on the website. There have already been some suggestions on how to improve on them, so I doubt the version on the forum is the final set.
- Following a strange idea, Kuro-RPG is the unexpected host in "Clone Army Kombat" where 32 of my avatars in different battle classes face off against each other. Forum members can vote on the winners.
