Old Updates

December 25th, 2005 |
With festive times come festive changes, I suppose. - DS9 Duty has 3 new colors: Brown, Teal #2 and Yellow #2. This brings the total available department colors up to 16. In addition, the page layout was redesigned, sorting the colors in alphabetical order, starting with Black first.

A critical update in the Information Page has been posted. This concerns artists who plan to use my ranksets as a referrence point for their own sets. I just spent today dealing with a very serious misunderstanding involving another rank maker, since he was using my sets as a base point and the end results made me suspect he was ripping them instead. In addition, if you plan to use them in such a way, please don't leave a post at the forum. Instead email my address kuro@kuro-rpg.net. Thank you. |

Gah! Bad me! Bad me! I forgot to update the update page last night after updating more of the website. - I found an old template that somehow got lost amongst the updates, the Line Template. That has been restored and re-posted on the site.

Whee! The evil week of depression is over for now, so I can get back to being the usual semi-happy kind of person I am. Since I was helping out a little at Enterprise:Flashed, I decided to use a different avatar in my box for a change. - Alternate Style #2 is finally complete and available on this small and "Once in a while" maintained site. This template is a descendent of the custom template I created for Trek Fans United, so this is the "Authorized" version available for download. Meaning, if you are using the style not available from here, it means your version is a rip-off from TFU... I hope you are not using a TFU rip-off... I would be scared if I was, and I even made it! With the new rankset on the site, that should definitely kick my rank count up to over 9,000 images. I am too scared to count them, however, so maybe when I get closer to 10,000... We'll see... Thanks to Andrea Holmes for letting me whine and nag about the rankset while I pushed to try and get it done. Her patience is very useful! |

Overhaul again. I would note a spark of excitement in my voice, but my personal life has been subject to lots of bovine excrement lately. I'll sum up what has been done. - Future Imperfect Rankset #2 is available on Kuro-RPG, but I did not make it. One of Kuro-RPG's elite members created the design while I provided asssistance. Nonetheless, the new design is up and running.
Everything is up now. I do not know when the next update will be, but there is always work to be done at Kuro-RPG. However, it is approaching bedtime for me, so off I go. |
|
November 20th, 2005 |
8,506 ranks on my site... I have "ABSOLUTELY NO LIFE!!!" ... But on the plus side, as I was saying to dear friend of mine, if I was steady with someone, I would be lucky to have 1,000 done by now (Starting from when the website went online back in June). So, now members and guests of Kuro-RPG can enjoy the benefits of my misery, right? Heh. - Future Imperfect Rankset is complete and posted on the rank page. I have not decided if I plan to expand on the existing 3 colors that have been posted. If I choose to, I will post an update.

Little things here and little things there, as we continue to see changes at the website. - Information page has been updated to include new mods and minor changes in the "wording" of the page.

October 30th, 2005 |
Greetings. To summarize what has happened, the forums are back up. In addition, the admin and moderators have already been selected and at this point, I have no plans to expand either group for some time. Hopefully, we can pick up where we left off with the other forums and try to turn this into one of the better development forums in existence. Thanks for your patience. Now, let's get posting! |

Time to put my creative writing skills to use. As things stand with the website, we have no forum right now, as it was deleted sometime today. As much I may be the person to take credit for this, the removal of the forums had nothing to do with me. Unfortunately, this leaves a discussion gap we once had filled with plenty of members. Therefore, I may as well take advantage of this drastic loss and try to rebuild a new forum for Kuro-RPG under the domain (Instead of using a free account.) This could take a little while, however, so please try to be patient. I can still take requests / questions / comments / etc. through my email account. Sorry for the inconvenience, faithful members of Kuro-RPG. I hope to have the situation resolved as soon as possible. On a personal level, I am very upset with this very sudden loss and I want this tragedy corrected as soon as I can. Just to try and keep my spirits up, I have been eating far more chocolate than I should in an evening... Bad me... |

October 9th, 2005 |
I normally don't post stuff which relates exclusively to the forums, but the RPG Simm based off the website has been changed. The forum tried to develop the U.S.S. Kuro into a practical simm, but it never took it. As of today, we have a new RPG Simm representing the site now. The U.S.S. Milinchi of Vengeance Fleet will now be our official Simm. Thanks to Solaris for his hard work and dedication for making this possible, along with our Forum staff. |

Eep... Not much to talk about since there have not been any real updated over the last while. Sorry to say. Maybe there will be updates later. |
|
September 22nd, 2005 |
Not that the site hasn't been updates, but there have been a number of little updates here and there. (Another link added here, another graphic added there.) Between work and other stuff, I am no longer sure what I have done... But I do know there are updates! Heh heh... ^_^ And to make me happier, Artemis Xavier Farr from Utopia Prime has contributed to the almost forgotten "Donation Wars" going on at Kuro-RPG. Your sizeable army shall give our other donators stern competition. Again, heh heh... ^_^ |

September 11th, 2005 |
To say this is a big update is certainly a complete understatement. Because of considerable problems involving my server, Firefox (which seems to be coming a popular broswer) and frames, I have removed the entire frame schematic and have redesigned the site to incorporate a non-frame style. I'll summarize the following updates in addition to the redesign: - Finished the Navy Blue colour scheme for the DS9 Duty, Dress #1 and Dress #2 rank templates.
Paul Slusser of Meggido Projects has donated to Kuro-RPG. Many thanks for your contributions. |

September 5th, 2005 |
Pretty lights... I would call today a "Casual Update" day at the Kuro-RPG. The following has been taken care of: - Added additional pages to the 2395 rankset. The rest of the Ambassador Ranks have been completed (As in the other 10 colors).
After all those pretty lights, sleep sounds good... Zzz... |

September 3rd, 2005 |
Today has been a big day at Kuro-RPG. As of today, Kuro-RPG and Bravo Fleet are officially partners in the common theme: To enhance the quality of online Trek Role-playing. Bravo Fleet is the largest online RPG simm board, dedicated to various Trek and Non-trek role-playing. They assist with a large number of online taskforces, starships, starbases and other simms. They have officially registered with us at the forums, so with any luck we should be able to hold discussion with their staff. In addition, we also had another unexpected registration at our forums. Tim Brazeal, founder of Trek United, has also joined us on the forums. Tim has long since been a personal idol and an inspiration for the Trek community at large. (He is also as close to a celebrtiy as I'll ever get to meet. ^_^ ) Eventually, Kuro-RPG will add special pages to help promote Bravo Fleet and Trek United. |

August 20th, 2005 |
Aside from minor changes to the information and link pages, there hasn't been a whole lot going on with the websites. Essentially, all the ranks I wanted to work on and post on the site are done. I'll consider suggestions for new rank sets in the meanwhile. They can be left in my PM box on the forums or you can contact me by email at: kuro@kuro-rpg.net |
|
August 13th, 2005 |
To start off, yes I know it has been a while since my last update, but between two rank projects (One I cannot post here yet), my real life job and other things, I have been well tied-up and away from making little changes to the site, like I tend to do on a regular basis. - Complete Romulan rank system has been attached to the side bar (Between the Line Template and Misc. sections, near the bottom of the list). This system includes 8 uniform styles seen through TNG/DS9/VOY and well as 2 uniform variants seen in "Nemesis". Thank you to Guyver3 for the suggestion.
One additional concern of mine. This is more of a nitpick than a serious problem, but for the people who keep telling me they are going to donate, please either do it or do not. Please stop leading me on. Thank you. And to change the mood... Lookie! It's a pink NX-01.

August 7th, 2005 |
With the "Donations Wars" continuing on, Kuro-RPG (as in me) has focused on more rank-making. This time, the latest update is 29th-century ranks. I will admit, the image background was a trial for me to get right, but I was impressed enough with how it turned out. Most of the rank designs are non-canon (A lot of them are unusual guesses that I hope look alright.) Thanks to Brad once again for his valued assistance in making this work. He suggested the enlisted system that is in use, and has been looking forward to 29th century ranks on here for quite some time. (Although I never got the reason why). |
|
August 6th, 2005 |
The "Donation Wars" are still continuing. New contestants are always welcome to join in and "Participate". Also, Jane Sanders of the Kuro-RPG forums has taken an extended leave of absence. I don't have the time to take care of the forum, unfortunately, so I have assigned Volak to Jane's duties for the time being. I know he, along with Andrea Holmes (Resident Signature Master) and Williams (Resident Sim CIC) will be able to keep the Kuro-RPG forums active. - Enterprise ranks got a background facelift. All the rank backgrounds were updated and look considerably brighter than they did before.

It's a donation war at my site, and everyone is invited to participate. I am saying that since I received donation #2 from the Kawaii Neko Fleet's own Changer of Ways. He is an admin and dedicated player, always a team member you can count on to help keep the story going. Many thanks, and may you continue to kick some serious butt on the site. Not a whole lot else at the moment, aside from some updates to the Donation and Links pages. Those pages continue to grow larger as more people become involved with this project. |
|
July 28th, 2005 |
I have added a small (or large, depending on your interpretation) update. MACO ranks are now on the site, and ready for downloading. Thanks to Brad for his extra help in speeding up the design process. At the rate he's going, I'll have to give him a section of his own soon enough. |
|
July 27th, 2005 |
Today has been a quiet update day, sorry to say. Just to clear up some confusion in yesterday's update, I mentioned the enlisted ranks had been updated in the DS9 collars. I meant to say the "Duty Uniform" collars were updated. The other three styles still need an update. - Mirror Universe Template was updated. Replaced all the Enlisted ranks (E4-E9), plus added on a Fleet Admiral rank(O-11).
|
|
July 26th, 2005 |
Early days at work do have their advantages. It means I can get on here and do more work for the site. I managed to get a lot done and complete two large templates. - All the Future Template pages are up and running.
- Kuro-chan I have replaced the alternative style ranks with the future style ranks (2395+) on the entire Kuro-RPG forums. They are now considered the primary Kuro-RPG rank pips. Kuro-chan, you have outdone yourself once again! - Jane |

July 25th, 2005 |
I often wondered if I should write a blurb on how to be evil, but I think I'll pass on the idea this time. This was a long day at Kuro-RPG and in the end there have been a few administrative changes in our forums. Personally, I think things will work out for the best. - Future Ranks have received a further update. All the ranks are on the site, but not all the pages are done yet. The Silver pips, Marine Officer and Marine Enlisted pages are up and running, however. I'll get the provisional pages done when I can. |
|
July 24th, 2005 |
I figure this will be a bit of a blurb as well as an update. I woke up this morning and immediately got started on making more ranks. I was given a request to work on a template for a Stargate Atlantis rpg forum (I think it's an RPG...), so I spent the better part of the morning working on that. After finishing the color departments and a basic run of the enlisted structure, I took a break from it and put my efforts back into the future ranks, at least until I heard something back from the people who wanted them. I had been working diligently on the future ranks (all 11 colors at once.) when I had the lucky privilege of chatting with our forum resident and Global Mod, Andrea Holmes. She's a fairly nice person and a bit of a kitty at times. (Which I can't complain about, since I tend to act in a similar way). She helped cheer me up a little, which is all good and helpful. Thanks, Andrea. ^_^ To summarize what was done to the site: - Future ranks are here. The Officer and Enlisted pages are now up. The rest of rank images and pages still have to be made.

More fun awaits you in this land of ranks. - Future Style Sample posted here
|
|
July 21st, 2005 |
Another update in 2 days after a brief absence sure makes for a return of trends... At least I think so, but then again, I am not even sure what I am trying to say. Maybe it means I am trying to get back into the habit of making regular updates as I try to make this project a success. - DS9 Dress Variant 1 section is now complete (with 7 different rank styles per collar color.)
|
|
July 19th, 2005 |
Funny thing called life and work can tend to keep me away from the site once in a while, so instead of trying to do big updates, I focused on little updates to try and keep things going. - Original Series Ranks are up and on the site now. There are a total of four different colors used (Red, Yellow, Green and Blue), each with line and flag officer ranks.
|
|
July 9th, 2005 |
- Enterprise Ranks are up and on the site now. I included four styles altogether, including a dress uniform variant.
|
|
July 6th, 2005 |
If people thought I was finished with updating the site, I might have agreed with you for a total of five minutes. Safe to say, however, that the site is not completely finished. I am still adding additional rank pages. - Updated the "Links" page, added a couple more links to sites that use the rank template here.
|
|
July 5th, 2005 |
I hereby declare the site officially open! ... Before I scare everyone, why don't I mention what I have managed to do up today with the existing site. - Updated the "Links" and "Information" pages, which included a warning for Firefox users. I still plan to create a non-frame version of the site so Firefox users won't run into that irritating white page with the fancy dancy Japanese characters throughout it.
Something very interesting caught my attention today (And put a really big smile on my face). If you look here at the Trek United links page and scroll all the way to the bottom, you might notice we have a nice big banner in one of the most important Trek websites out there. Many thanks to Tim Brazeal for being the great guy he always has been. |
|
July 4th, 2005 |
A few minor updates here and there, but I managed to add the "Links" page to the site. Now I know I haven't linked everyone yet, so if your site is not listed there, please have some patience and we'll get you there as soon as I can. |
|
July 3rd, 2005 |
Instead of working on a large round of rank pages this time around, I focused on more of the core page structure.
|
|
July 2nd, 2005 |
2 big updates in a row. I am on a roll. - Updated Silver Warrant, Gold and Silver Admiral Pips on the DS9 Duty uniforms.
It does not look like I am going to be able to solve this problem I have with frames not loading properly. With assistance from other browser users, I have been able to determine that the frame errors appear to be exclusive to Firefox users only. Starting tomorrow, I will be working on a "Frame / No Frame" system so that accessing the pages will be easy enough to do. I am unsure how long this process will require, but I'll use the same rank tables for both the framed and non-framed pages. |
|
July 1st, 2005 |
Today has been one major updating day, and I managed to cover quite a good amount of ground. - Updated Silver Warrant, Gold and Silver Admiral Pips on the Alternate Style uniforms.
In addition to all the recent fun, I have been in contact with my domain support. It's possible that the issue with frames not working on my actual domain could be finished up soon. If that happens, I'll reload the entire site back to http://kuro-rpg.net |
|
June 30th, 2005 |
I managed to include the "Motion Picutre" ranks, including around 8 additional non-canon designs, spanning 6 different departments and 5 different uniform colors. Updated the "Major" "Lt. Colonel" and "Colonel" pips in the Line Template. Eventually, this update will cover the duty uniforms, 2 dress variants, and alternate style uniforms. |
|
June 29th, 2005 |
Okay. I have tried to establish "Misc." and "Line Template" sections. The Misc. section covers templates that only need a single page. The Line Template is established as a neutral style for ranks at forums, manifests, etc. |
|
June 28th, 2005 |
I temporarily uploaded my viewing pages to a Geocities freesite to see if they work. (And you bet, they do work.) I was freaked out for a while since they would work on my computer, but as soon as uploaded them, they would crashy-ash on me. I'll have to talk to my .ftp domain support about this one. I have been chatting with other forum members, and they are as surprised about this issue as I am. This is downright weird. Attached the Movie Era links to the Rank Sidebar. |
|
June 27th, 2005 |
I feel brave today. I am going to try and do frames "once again" to see if they will actually work. Fixed TNG/Admiral a-a1-right.png and TNG/Admiral-Silver a-a2.png files. Fixed Dress Variant #2 enlisted ranks. All of them had an alignment problem, but has now been corrected. |
|
June 23rd, 2005 |
Eeek! I am sorry to say this site is currently "Still" under construction. I am still a ways from an "official" opening here, thus I need some more time to get all the other pages organized, sorted out, setup and such. Heck, there isn't even a banner for the site yet! Just bear with me, have patience and we'll get this show on the road soon enough. To top things off, I'll link you to the two pages of importance so you can at least what is going on. The Official Rank Page (so far)
